What causes acne breakouts?, Worldwide, is estimated that 60 million people suffer from acne. Acne is a major skin problem that affects people all over the world. Please keep reading to learn more about causes of acne and pimples. I did some research and here are the answer that I came up with.

Common Causes Of Acne and Pimples

1) Food We Eat -Some people are likely to have acne outbreak with some diets like carbohydrates and sugars. Consuming a diet high in oils, fats and sugars can interfere with your hormonal balance. These types of foods are known to cause acne breakouts. A good diet for your skin should include fruits, vegetables, skim milk, cottage cheese and lean meats. Oily foods are also what causes acne breakouts.

2) Androgen Body Hormones -These are sex hormones and research shows that they rank to be the top of what causes acne breakouts. These hormones begin during puberty and this is the reason why most individuals who are affected by acne are young people or teens. During menstruation or pregnancy, women tend to have more of these Androgen hormones and this explains why pregnant women or a woman who is on her menstrual cycle is more likely to have pimples on her face or sometimes called facial acne outbreaks.

3) Personal Stress Is What Causes Acne Breakouts -Yes stress causes acne outbreaks. Stress is related to production hormones like cortisol which has been known to cause acne. When a person is stressed out, their body develops different hormone levels. With these hormone changes, the body starts to produce more oil to the skin. White heads, black heads and pimples types of acnes are caused by these oils on the skin.

4) Heavy Makeups, Oily Makeups/Cosmetics -Heavy makeups are not good for your skin. They cause clogging of pores and adds more oil to your skin. Is even more worse when someone put heavy makeups on their oily existing skin! Moisturizers or cosmetics contains more than one chemical like vegetable oils, alcohol, petrolatum and acids which contribute to causes of acne and pimples.

5) Steroids and Specific Medications -It is wise to stop overusing vitamins. Vitamins are essential to our skin but overusing them can cause acne. Examples of such vitamins are B1, B6 and B12. Abuse or inappropriate use of steroids, especially anabolic steroids can lead to acne breakouts because they stimulate sebaceous glands. Sebaceous glands present in the skin secrete a substance called sebum into hair follicles and most of the skin.

6) Doing Harsh and Rough Cleansing -Avoid harsh and rough cleansing to your skin especially on the face. The facial skin is extremely sensitive to rough cleansing, it can easily be damaged. This kind of cleansing can damage the skin layers and spread infections. When cleansing your skin, use lukewarm water. Water that is too hot can dehydrate your skin and too cold can dry your skin. This is also what causes acne breakouts, Take it easy when doing skin cleansing.

7) Picking and squeezing of the skin plus squeezing and Environmental issues -High humidity causes the skin to swell and pollution of the environment can cause clogging of your pores. Avoid picking and squeezing pimples or acne outbreaks as this can send infections deeper into the skin and cause scarring.

8) Hereditary Factors Is What Causes Acne Breakouts-As I said earlier some causes of acne are inevitable. This is a good example of a cause of acne that we can’t avoid. Acne can be inherited and some serious acne causes such as Cystic acne do come from heredity like through family members such as our parents and grandparents.

9) Extra Sebum in the Follicle -When androgens stimulates sebaceous gland, it produces extra sebum which mixes with dead skin cells and skin bacteria. This is a normal process but excess sebum in the follicle increases the chances of clogging and acne. There are things that can lead to production of excess sebum like anabolic steroids.

Causes of acne and pimples both include external and Internal factors. There are many other causes of acne and pimples but these are just the major reasons. The best way to deal with what causes acne breakouts is skin hygiene and a good diet. Medications that you take also must be watched out in case of sudden acne breakouts. If you have serious acne problems, I highly recommend that you see a dermatologist. So these are the major causes of acne and pimples. Note, however, that some medications people take when trying to deal with or treat stress can have a large influence on acne as the result of medication side effects.

Myth #2: Acne is contagious, true or false?

Not! No one can “catch” acne; it is non-communicable.

Myth #3:You’ll outgrow acne, so just leave it alone – myth or truth?

This is false. Acne strikes all ages and is treatable, but shouldn’t be left alone to possibly worsen.

Myth #4: Being out in the sun helps acne, right?

In the long run, no. The sun may appear to help clear up your blemishes and redden your skin, thus lessening the overall reddish effect of the targeted acne area when it was outstanding. Myth #7: People with acne are dirty and don’t wash enough.

Not! This is another myth. Acne is the result of a build up of oil, dead skin cells and bacteria in a closed pore. Period. Dirt is not even a factor in the equation.

Myth #8: Acne is only on external issue or surface deep; i.e. people shouldn’t make such a big thing out of it, myth or reality?

Myth. In reality, yes, it basically is only on your skin (and underneath the surface a little bit). However, the effects run much more deeper than that in many instances. More than 50 percent of those suffering acne problems reported negative comments and other feedback from members of society, regardless of whether or not there was any scarring left for others to see afterwards. And resulting internal depression and low self-esteem can be harmful emotionally not only short-term but over a person’s lifetime. So acne can indeed be a very big issue requiring healthcare treatment and support.

Myth #9: OK, myth or reality: there is a cure for acne?

Myth. Although there is no cure at this time, there are many treatments available that do a great job. As the saying goes, “Prevention is the best medicine;” however, there is no need to suffer in silence with all the options available on the market today for all price ranges.

Pimples or zits are commonly referred to as acne vulgaris in the medical world. Skin acne is caused by a change in the hair follicle or pore and the sebaceous gland attached to that pore. In harsh cases pimples form which is the result of inflammation of these pore or follicles.

Adolescence

Acne develops most often in teenagers. Usually it will wane over time and completely disappear after an individual reaches his early twenties. In extreme cases, it will last into the thirties and forties. The appearance of acne in adolescence can be especially stressful to the teenager, as this is a time when personal insecurities are rampant. Having a faceful of pimples only adds to this insecurity and can lead to severe depression. Therefore aggressive treatment is recommended.

Location

Skin acne is most often found on the face and neck. However, the shoulders, chest, back and sometimes upper arms can be affected too.

Formation of a Pimple

When the follicles become blocked, acne will form. A plug of keratin and sebum will form in the follicle. When sebaceous glands grow at puberty, the sebum enlarges and forms a blackhead or a whitehead. Whiteheads are due to pores being clogged with sebum. Blackheads form due to the oxidation of keratin. Sebum is oil in the skin and, in combination with skin bacteria results in inflammation and pimples.

Primary Causes of Skin Acne

One of the main causes of acne is family history. Acne does tend to run in families. In addition, puberty increases the level of androgens. This resulted in larger sebaceous glands and more sebum.

Another cause of acne is stress. Stress increases hormonal output, which leads to more sebum production and more clogged pores. And abnormally hyperactive sebaceous glands can lead to skin acne too.

Dead skin cells can get trapped in pores, causing blockage and bacteria itself can result in pimples. Using anabolic steroids or medications with barbiturates, androgens or lithium can all lead to skin acne.

Exposure to chlorinated dioxins can also cause acne. And a specific kind of acne, Halogen acne, is the result of exposure to bromides, chlorides and iodides, all know as halogens.

Hormones are another acne producer. Testosterone, DHEAS, DHT and insulin-like growth factor as have been shown to increase acne.

Acne that develops in later years can be the result of Roscea. Or it can indicate an underlying disease such as Cushing’s syndrome or polycystic ovary syndrome in women.

Diet

Certain foods have also been linked to acne. Skim milk, cottage cheese, cream cheese, sherbet and some instant breakfast drinks have all been shown to increase the likelihood of skin acne. In addition, food high in carbohydrates are another contributing factor.

Acne is not caused by dirt. Although oil on the skin can keep the pores from washing out the keratin and dead skin cells. As a result these substances get trapped inside the follicle and eventually result in a pimple. Therefore it is a good idea to keep the skin cleaned of oil that can clog the pores.

- First and foremost, you are going to want to avoid popping your inflamed pimples as this is only going to spread the infection even further. Popping and bursting pimples is what causes scarring that can destroy your complexion forever.

- If you are experiencing itching around a pimple, dip a cotton ball into rose water and gently press it against the pimple to give your skin some relief. Rose water is a popular remedy for soothing inflammation in the skin effectively.

The yogurt adds soothing qualities to the skin and provides the skin with healthy bacteria that will aid in the process of skin regeneration. The honey is going to add natural moisture to your skin, alleviating the possibility that it will become excessively dry from the lemon.

- Something else that you may want to consider is a dietary change, as foods that are rich in saturated fats can sometimes contribute to a hormonal imbalance which is capable of causing problems with inflamed pimples.
