What You Will Find at an Acne Treatment Clinic

An acne attack makes one’s face unsightly, with pimples replacing a once attractive complexion.  Which is why, psychiatrists consider its psychological effects even more harmful than what it does to your face.  Good thing acne treatment clinics are abundant in every community.  These facilities have treatments and devices aimed to cure acne attacks, regardless of the severity.   Medicine for Acne Acne treatment clinics have a large collection of oral and topical treatments for acne.  These drugs are administered then prescribed, depending on the severity of the attack.  For severe cases, the different types of medication are used in conjunction with one another, in effect, boosting the effects of the treatment.  The zits, as a result, shrivel and fade at a relatively short period.  Aside from pills and ointments, you could also find chemical peels, used for loosening blackheads. Tools for Comedo Extraction  The removal of blackheads and whiteheads is one of the prime functions of acne treatment facilities, aside from repulsing acne.  You’ll find sterile pen-like devices tipped with needles, which are used for extracting comedones off whiteheads and blackheads.  The process is quite agonizing, but at the end of the session, your face will be as clear as a blank sheet of paper.  Surgical Instruments Severe acne attacks, at times, don’t fade or even shrink when applied with topical solutions.  Surgery comes as a more potent solution.  Using these instruments, dermatologists can drain acne, until they eventually wither out.  In some cases, they physically extract zits and pimples, to halt the spread of these unsightly marks on your face.  You are, then, given the proper medication after each session.   Devices for Phototherapy  For the severest cases, dermatologists reserve perhaps the most effective treatment for acne – phototherapy.  They use one or a combination of devices, which emit light and lasers, to wipe out zits and pimples off your face.  The devices are built to treat hard-to-reach areas, providing a lot of convenience for both the patient and the dermatologist.  You’re also not required to take anti-acne medication during and even after the procedure.  Phototherapy’s only drawback is its price.  Some people will have a hard time affording the treatment, since the use of the devices is quite costly.  Medical researchers have also questioned the treatment’s long – term effectiveness.  Just pursue phototherapy when you have a good amount of cash available. The Price for Looking Good Given the medicine and devices found at acne treatment clinics, recovery from an acne attack is a certainty.  Just follow the dermatologist’s orders, religiously, and you’re bound to recover. Painstaking as the process may be, your dashing good looks will be back pretty soon, so bear with it.

Information On The Different Types Of Acne

By Ryan Cote

One of the most common skin diseases in the United States is acne and 60 million Americans have this condition. Acne is an inflammatory, non-contagious skin disease that affects the pores covering the face, back, chest and arms and the oil glands attached to them. Too much oil, formally known as sebum, is produced by the sebaceous gland and causes a greasy, course complexion. When the pores that hold our hairs become blocked by dead skin cells and oil, eruptions known as acne pimples are formed.

The most common form of this disease is mild acne, which is clinically referred to as acne vulgaris, and includes blemishes such as blackheads, whiteheads, papules and pustules. Blackheads develop when a pore is partially clogged and some of the trapped bacteria, sebum and dead skin cells drain to the surface and your skin’s pigment reacts with the oxygen in the air and causes a black color. Whiteheads occur when a pore is fully blocked and traps bacteria, sebum and dead skin cells with a white appearance. Pustules are like whiteheads, however, they appear as an inflamed red circle with a yellow or white center. Finally, papules are tender, red, inflamed bumps that have no head at all.

Severe acne vulgaris is defined by the appearance of nodules and cysts. Nodules are big, hard bumps under the surface of the skin that can last for month and feel painful. Cysts are filled with pus and can have a diameter of 5mm across or more. This type of acne would require treatment from a skin doctor, known as a dermatologist.

If you have mild acne, it is important to cleanse your skin two to three times per day with a cleanser developed for oily skin. Regular use of astringents and masks can be helpful in keeping the pores from getting clogged. A light moisturizer can also help your skin. Avoiding oily skin care products and foods will minimize the existence and production of oil in your skin. A healthy lifestyle that includes a well-balanced diet, exercise and sleep will reflect in your skin. Ensuring that you drink plenty of water and incorporate all vitamins into your diet will also improve the health of your skin.

Proactive Acne Treatment: The Best Solution To Your Acne Problem

By Priyanka James

The tackling of acne eruptions on the skin can be given a thorough cleanup by using a vigorous proactive approach to its control and medication. The proactive acne treatment is a combination therapy that studies all aspects of the acne problem in order to search out a viable solution.

The first step of proactive treatment in acne relies on the premise that the skin blemish is healed before further steps to check its reappearance are taken in hand. The start point of skin healing in the proactive approach is to examine the ways in which the skin can be cleaned, with the help of an effective skin cleanser.

The ideal cleanser to effect a healing of skin blemished by acne is one that will help exfoliate the skin and expose the dead skin cells. The exfoliated skin can then be treated with benzoyl peroxide as that will kill the bacteria causing acne to appear on the skin surface. The benzoyl will also be in a position to penetrate the skin pores as the cleanser has exfoliated the skin sufficiently. This action will not only heal the blemishes but also attack the bacteria, providing a curing and preventive action in one go.

With the immediate problem taken in hand the next stage of the three-way proactive approach to control acne is to choose an ideal skin toner. When shopping for the right product one should look for a skin toner that is alcohol free and is a water based toner. This kind of skin toner will help remove dead skin cells and unplug clogged pores, allowing the skin to remain healthy and acne free. It will also help in the removal of excess oil that usually forms on skins prone to acne eruptions. The application of such a skin tone on a regular basis will thus help balance the skin tone and maintain a skin that is acne free and free of oil imbalance and clogged pores.

In the final stages, when the healing effect is well on the course and the skin is limping back to its original health, steps have to be taken to assist the process and recover lost ground. In such state a repairing lotion must be applied regularly on the skin. The skin at this stage is acne free but the scars of blackheads and whiteheads are just skin deep. So the users are advised to apply oil-free repairing lotion that will heal blackheads and whiteheads, while making the skin glow and acne blemishes, a thing of the past.

Acne Care Treatment Tips Breakthrough For Different Types of Acne

By Ingrid Lihan

You may think a zit is just a zit, but actually there are different types of acne. Each type requires a different acne care plan. This article will explain the differences and acne treatment for each.

Types Of Acne Defined

Comedonal acne is just the medical name for whiteheads and blackheads. Inflammatory acne is defined as having red papules or pustules, and can also have whiteheads or blackheads mixed in. Finally, nodulocystic acne has deeper nodules or cysts. Acne care varies for each of these types, as does the strength of the acne treatment.

Treatment Of Whiteheads And Blackheads

Comedonal acne is best treated with topical solutions such as benzoyl peroxide and Retin-A. The key with these treatments is patience, as both of them can cause skin irritation if used too much too fast. To see maximum benefit from either of these treatments, six to eight weeks needs to elapse with consistent daily use.

In order to avoid the skin irritation that is common with these treatments, a good quality skin moisturizer is recommended. Used frequently throughout the day, a moisturizer can go a long way to keep the skin soft and pliable as the acne care products of choice do their job of sloughing off the old skin and removing the whiteheads and blackheads.

Treatment of Inflammatory Acne

Inflammatory acne may not only have red papules or pustules, but also a combination of whiteheads and blackheads. Because of this, an acne care program could include oral antibiotics as well as topical antibiotic solutions and oral contraceptives. Because of severity that inflammatory acne can reach, many people find that they will have to take a combination of two or more of these to get their acne under control.

Because acne treatment for inflammatory acne is primarily done with some form of antibiotic, over the long term, bacterial resistance can occur. Because of this, it is harder to control this type of acne than its comedonal counterpart. However, because whiteheads and blackheads are also very common with inflammatory acne, it is very important to use a good quality moisturizer to help the skin maintain it’s pliability and to cut down on redness and irritation.

Treatment of Nodulocystic Acne

Nodulocyctic acne care can include everything previously mentioned. However, when topical solutions and oral and topical antibiotics don’t work or don’t work well enough, strong treatments may be added. Accutane is a last resort treatment that can be used for this serious form of acne. It is used as a last resort due to the serious side effects such as liver damage that can occur from its long-term use.

Accutane should only be used under the direct supervision of a doctor familiar with its use, as regular blood tests are recommended to monitor liver function levels in the body.

While there are many ways to treat acne, its treatment and prevention usually boil down to either a topical or oral solution. Successful acne treatment can take up to six to nine weeks for mild to moderate acne and much longer for more severe levels. Patience is required, as is consistent use of any treatment selected.
